BIC Straldja
Business Information Center – Straldja is an NGO, founded in 2001
by the JOBS Project. The Job Opportunities through Business
Support (JOBS) project is executed by the Ministry of Labour and
social Policy under the government program “Bulgaria 2001”, with
the support of the United Nations Development Program. The Project
is enhancing rural economic development by creating an environment
where employment is promoted through support to micro and small
enterprises and agricultural producers (including 32
Municipalities in Bulgaria). The partners of BIC – Straldja are
Municipality of Straldja, Labour Office, DSK Bank, private
companies and persons.
The major goals are supporting the economic development of small
and medium sized enterprises in the region; initiating new ideas
for local economic development; exchanging information with
developed countries and decreasing the level of unemployment in
the region; supporting the local NGOs and the local community.
Our target groups are:
-
Unemployed, actively looking for jobs
-
Micro, small enterprises and agricultural
producers
-
Young people, students (risk group)
-
Minorities and disabled people
-
Local partners – state institutions, firms and
NGOs
BIC-Straldja operates CraftCenter.org as a public
service to the people of Straldja, surrounding areas and the
country. This is the very first on-line craft store of its kind in
Bulgaria and it provides financial support to Bulgarian
craftspeople who are unemployed, retired or under-employed.
BIC-Straldja takes very seriously its public-service role and
stands behind its products with a 100% guarantee. Over 100
artisans present their crafts on the site and more than 500
customers from 15 counties are enjoying their crafts.
